Great idea! Because FB has all these automatic features it always reminds me of the birthdays of people who are dead, also. Feels a little eerie but it is a way of remembering them. I still have all my deceased friends in my contacts.

I hear you. I don't delete either. I get a little misty eyed when I stare at the name for 30 seconds but usually end up smiling. It would be great to have their voice attached to the contact. i would love to hear them say - "Hi Mark!" one more time.

I had never thought of that before.

It could open a discussion about digital assets inheritance, like the property of the telephone number of your passing friends or loved ones.

I also leave these names. I have an Apple phone and have added a category for the date of passing (yahrzeit) and this way the death anniversary shows up in my calendar. I add anything else to the notes section and when I see their name - it’s not awkward - just a wonderful (yet poignant) memory.

I just leave them as they were. When I come across their names, it puts a nice smile on my face and a few flashbacks. :o)

Same here. For some, I added their memorial page from the funeral home to their URL line in the contact info. Sometimes I go back and read the comments on or near the anniversary. It would be great if there was an active/inactive feature available.

After teaching ballet for over 40 years I have mixed feelings about this dilemma. Perhaps a separate storybook of those who have passed through our lives and made an impact.

Some oneliners, some with photos ,some with initials ,date and impression.

We might call these folders of those passed, labeled by year or of importance .

I have the same issue with LinkedIn and especially with Facebook. Not sure what the answr is. I like yours to start.
