Thanks for sharing this article, Elliott! I remember the Second Life days and our firm dabbled in Second Life so I've been reflecting on what would make the Metaverse better. Your article is spot on!

I have been preparing for this paradigm shift for a while now, learning Maya and other software. Microsoft HoloLens2 is the most polished product that will help make VR L&D a feasible reality for our profession. Both as an Instructional Designer and an eLearning Developer, the major obstacles to this is the entry point costs of the organization, the infrastructure required to support the bandwidth needed for a lag free experience, and the skill-set of developers. The adoption rate will also play a big part in how the value of this type of L&D is perceived. Likely, the major players will be the early adopters. Looking forward to the future role that VR plays in how we develop and design learning.
